Priuli, Giovanni (c. 1575-1629)

Italian composer. He was Kapellmeister to the Archduke Ferdinand of Austria at Graz early in the 17th century. He remained in Ferdinand's service when he became the Emperor Ferdinand II. He studied with Giovanni Gabrieli and his instrumental canzonas contain echo effects.

Works

motets, psalms and other church music; madrigals, Musiche concertate, Delicie musicali for several voices.
