Proserpine

Opera by Jean-Baptiste Lully (libretto by Quinault), produced at Saint-Germain on 3 February 1680 and first performed in Paris on 15 November that same year. The story concerns Attis and Proserpina, who are in love. But jealous Cyane arranges for Pluto to abduct Proserpine. Attis commits suicide and Cyane confesses her plot. In the end, Mercury and Jupiter restore the couple. 1680.

Opera by Giovanni Paisiello (libretto by Quinault, revised by Nicolas François Guillard), produced at the Opéra, Paris, on 29 March 1803. It was Paisiello's only French opera.
