Putnam, Ashley (1952– )

US soprano. She made her debut in 1976 at Norfolk, VA, as Lucia; she returned in 1977 as Mary in Musgrave's Mary, Queen of Scots. She performed with the New York City Opera from 1978, as Violetta, Maria Stuarda, Ophelia, and Bellini's Elvira. She appeared at Glyndebourne in 1978, as Musetta; she returned in 1984 to perform Arabella. In 1986 her Fiordiligi was seen on BBC TV, and she sang Jenůfa at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. Other roles included Gilda, Donna Anna, and Strauss's Danae.
