The Col de Ayous (1,960 m/6,420 ft) in the French Pyrenees. This magnificently wild and beautiful region is part of the Parc National des Pyrénées. The col (or pass) is on the GR10, a difficult footpath that runs the full length of the range.

Mountain range in southwest Europe between France and Spain, extending from the Atlantic Ocean (Bay of Biscay) to the Mediterranean Sea (Golfe du Lion); length about 435 km/270 mi; highest peak Aneto (French Néthon) 3,404 m/11,172 ft. Andorra lies entirely within the range. Hydroelectric power has encouraged industrial development in the foothills.
