Qalyubiya

Governorate in northern Egypt, situated in the apex of the River Nile delta; area 971 sq km/375 sq mi; population (1995 est) 3,045,000. The capital is Benha. Qalyubiya is one of the most heavily populated of all Egyptian governorates, and the area is an important supplier of fresh market garden produce for Cairo.
