qin

Plucked zither of the Han Chinese consisting of a shallow, oblong, lacquered wooden box, with a curved wooden soundboard, no bridges or frets, and seven silk strings stretched along the length of the instrument and tied onto mother of pearl studs. Experts agree on its origins around the 14th and 15th centuries. It has an abundance of lore and anecdotes attached to it.
