Qishm

Island in the Strait of Hormuz, off the Iranian coast, south of the port of Bandar-e 'Abbas; length 110 km/68 mi; area 1,500 sq km/580 sq mi. The chief town on the island is Qishm. The island contains some of the world's largest underground gas reserves. An industrial free-trade zone is being developed.

1 magnitude quake hit at around 3pm, with its epicentre close to Qishm islands, 135 kilometres north of Ras Al Khaimah.
According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre was located 31 kilometres to the west of Qishm Island and at a depth of 30 kilometres.
