Quéant

French village in the département of Pas-de-Calais, about 14 km/9 mi from Bapaume.

In World War I, it was the southern end of the German ‘Wotan’ Line, often referred to in documents of the period as the ‘Quéant Switch line’, which ran north to Drocourt and formed part of the Hindenburg Line. Strongly fortified, it was stormed and captured by the Canadian Army on 2 September 1918.
