Xeon

Brand name of a type of Intel Pentium II processor designed for use in servers and high-end workstations. The Xeon processor was launched in 1998. The equivalent product designed for use in low cost personal computers is the Celeron.

Officials from Intel, which already offers quad-core Xeon server processors, last week detailed their upcoming eight-core Nehalem EX server processors, due in 2010.
