Quantico

Town in Prince William County, northeastern Virginia, USA, on the Potomac River, 48 km/30 mi southwest of Washington DC; population (1990) 700. Adjacent is a Marine Corps station established as a naval base during the American Revolution and made a permanent base in 1916. Long known as the Quantico Marine Corps Air Station, it is now the headquarters of the Combat Development Command, the Marines' educational centre. Quantico Station had a population of 7,400 in 1990. Quantico is also an FBI training centre.

Now, according to a report in New Scientist, the US Department of Defense's Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate (JNLWD) in Quantico, Virginia is developing a pulsed laser designed to prevent eye damage.
The RUN AMUCK 4 Miler at Marine Corps Base Quantico (VA) used to be only open to the Marines, sailors and Government personnel assigned to the base in Quantico Virginia.
Every new marine officer passes through the elite Quantico school, and after six months of intensive training they take command of a 50-member platoon.
