Quantrill, William Clarke (1837–1865)
| US proslavery outlaw who became leader of an irregular unit on the Confederate side in the American Civil War. Frank and Jesse James were members of his gang (called Quantrill's Raiders). In 1863 they burned down most of the pro-Union town of Lawrence, Kansas, killing around 150 people. |
