Quartzsite

Town in La Paz County, southwestern Arizona, USA, 20 km/18 mi east of the California border (the Colorado River) and 190 km/120 mi west of Phoenix; population (1990) 1,900. Established as Fort Tyson in the 1850s, and later a stagecoach stop, it is now noted as the site of a huge midwinter rock and gem show.

The Hi Jolly Memorial is the grave of Hadji Ali, an Arab camel driver who came to the area during Army experiments with the animals in the 1850s; he remained in the district as a prospector.
