Queen Anne's Bounty

Fund established by Queen Anne in 1704 to support Church of England clergy whose annual income was less than £10. The Crown's income from first fruits and tenths was set aside to pay for the fund. The income limit was later raised to £35 and from 1777 loans were made to improve parsonages. The revenue has been administered by the Church Commissioners since 1948.
