Queensferry

Coastal town and former royal burgh in City of Edinburgh unitary authority, Scotland, situated on the Firth of Forth, 13 km/8 mi northwest of Edinburgh; population (2001) 9,400. The harbour facilities are mainly tidal, and include the Port Edgar naval base. Local industries include whisky-blending.

Abercorn, lying west of Queensferry, was the see of Scotland's earliest bishopric from 681 to 685. Other historic buildings include Plewlands House, restored by the National Trust, Dundas Castle, and Hopetoun House, enlarged by William Adam and his sons between 1721 and 1754.
