Quesnel

Town in Cariboo Regional District, southern-central British Columbia, Canada, at the confluence of the Quesnel and Fraser rivers, 422 km/262 mi northeast of Vancouver and 105 km/65 mi south of Prince George; population (1991) 8,200. Industries include plywood manufacturing, lumbering, mining, and agriculture. Situated on the Cariboo Road, it developed during the 1860s Cariboo gold rush. Barkerville lies 64 km/40 mi to the east.
