Quilico, Gino (1955– )

Canadian baritone, son of Louis Quilico. After study at the University of Toronto he sang in Canada from 1978. He was a guest performer in Dallas, and at Toronto where he appeared as Gershwin's Porgy. From 1980 he performed at the Paris Opéra, in operas by Gluck, Gounod, and Massenet. He made his UK debut with Scottish Opera at the 1982 Edinburgh Festival, as Puccini's Lescaut. From 1983 he sang in London at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, as Valentin, Marcello, Belcore, Escamillo, and Posa (1989). He made his New York debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1987, as Massenet's Lescaut. In 1988 he made his first appearance at Salzburg, as Dandini in La Cenerentola (which he also recorded on video). He sang Don Giovanni at Buenos Aires, in 1993. His recordings include Choerubus in Les Troyens, conducted by Charles Dutoit.
