Quinet, Fernand (1898–1971)

Belgian cellist, conductor and composer. He studied at the Brussels Conservatory, where he was awarded the Belgian Prix de Rome, in 1921. Later he became director of the Charleroi Conservatory, and of the Liège Conservatory, in 1938.

Works

Instrumental

Esquisses symphoniques, Mouvements symphoniques (1931) for orchestra; suite L'École buissonière and fantasy for string quartet, Charade for piano trio, suite for two clarinets and bass clarinet (1930); viola and piano sonata.

Vocal

Moralités non légendaires for voice and 18 instruments (1930); song-cycle La Bonne Aventure, and other songs.
