QuirinalOne of the seven hills on which ancient Rome was built. Its summit is occupied by a palace built in 1574 as a summer residence for the pope and occupied 1870-1946 by the kings of Italy. The name Quirinal is derived from that of Quirinus, local god of the Sabines. |
