quota sample

Sample chosen to reflect the constitution of the larger group from which it was selected. For example, if the product was a pram, and the target market for prams was shown to be 80% women and 20% men, then the sample group would consist of four women for every one man.

It was almost as bad as the Dewey over Truman fiasco 60 years earlier, a result that led survey organizations like Gallup both to move from quota sampling to probability selection and to extend polling to later in the campaign.
We used a quota sampling strategy to select informants of different age and sex, from rural and urban areas.
Participants: One hundred children without CP between 7 and 15 years old were recruited by quota sampling, with a minimum of 10 children in each year of age.
