Romeo

Small town in Macomb County, southeast Michigan; population (1990) 3,500. It is located 31 km/19 mi northeast of Pontiac. It was settled in 1827 on a Chippewa winter campground, and grew as a centre for the production of carriages, brooms, and cigars. Today Romeo is a market centre for the surrounding orchard region and has some light industry. Ford Motor Company's Proving Ground is 6 km/4 mi to the northwest.
