Radamisto

Opera by Handel (libretto by Nicola Francesco Haym, after Tacitus), produced in London at the King's Theatre, Haymarket, on 27 April 1720. In the story, the tyrant King Tiridate lusts after Zenobia, wife of Prince Radamisto, sending armies to conquer his rival. When Zenobia opts to die with her husband rather than yield to Tiridate, news arrives of a revolt in the tyrant's army and the married couple are saved.
