Adam's Bridge

Remains of an isthmus which now forms sandbanks in the straits between southern India and Sri Lanka and hinders navigation. In Hindu legend, it is a passageway built by Rama, hero of the Rāmāyana, to cross from India to Sri Lanka; in Muslim legend, Adam crossed over here to repent in Sri Lanka.
