Ramsey County

County in east-central Minnesota; area 399 sq km/154 sq mi; population (1990) 485,800. It is situated to the east of Minneapolis and is bordered by the Mississippi River to the south and west. One of the state's most urbanized counties, it consists mainly of St Paul (its administrative headquarters), and suburbs to the north, such as Roseville, Arden Hills, and White Bear Lake. There are many recreational lakes in the northeast of the county.
