Rance

River in Brittany, northwest France, rising in the département of Côtes-d'Armor, and flowing into the Gulf of St-Malo. A dam built between 1960 and 1967 (with a lock for ships) uses the 13-m/44-ft tides to feed the world's first successful tidal power station.
