Randolph, Vance

Randolph, Vance (1892–1980)

US folklorist whose many volumes of Ozark lore, mostly published in the 1940s and 1950s, include Ozark Folksongs 1946–50 and Pissing in the Snow 1976, and are credited with helping to broaden the content and contextual consideration of folklore studies.

He was born in Pittsburg, Kansas. He was a writer in Missouri and Arkansas who undertook much pseudonymous work to finance his collecting and study of Ozark folklore.
