Randstad

Randstad

Main metropolitan region of the Netherlands, including the cities of Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, and Utrecht, and the urban areas that connect them. The Randstad is an urbanized area forming a horseshoe-shaped zone around open countryside which is used for intensive agriculture.

Ranstad means peripheral city and the term ‘Greenheart City’ is also used to describe the area. It falls in the provinces of North and South Holland and Utrecht.
