Rapallo

Port and winter resort in Liguria, northwest Italy, 24 km/15 mi southeast of Genoa on the Gulf of Rapallo; population (2001) 29,200. There are tuna fisheries, and lace and olive oil are manufactured. Treaties were signed here in 1920 (settling the common frontiers of Italy and Yugoslavia) and in 1922 (cancelling German and Russian counterclaims for indemnities for World War I).

Rapallo has Roman remains and an ancient castle.
