Rattigan, Terence Mervyn (1911-1977)

English dramatist. His play Ross (1960) was based on the character of T E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia). Rattigan's work ranges from the comedy French Without Tears (1936) to the psychological intensity of The Winslow Boy (1946). Other plays include The Browning Version (1948) and Separate Tables (1954). He was knighted in 1971.
