Rattner, Abraham

Rattner, Abraham (1895–1978)

US painter who is known for his surrealistic and religious paintings, such as Moses 1957.

Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1917 and 1919, and lived in Paris 1920–40 before returning to New York. He taught at several schools, including the New School, New York 1947–55 and Yale University 1952–53.
