Raval, Sebastián (c. 1550–1604)

Spanish composer. He went to Italy early in his career and served various patrons at Urbino, Rome and Palermo, having possibly started his career in Naples. In Rome in 1593 he was challenged through his boastfulness to a contest with Nanini and Soriano and defeated by them. His last post was that of maestro de capilla to the Spanish Duke of Maqueda at Palermo.
