Raymond, Alex(ander Gillespie) (1909–1956)

US cartoonist who was the creator of the science fiction newspaper comic strip ‘Flash Gordon’ 1934, the action-adventure strip ‘Jungle Jim’ 1934, and ‘Rip Kirby’ 1946, the popular adventures of a police officer.

He was born in New Rochelle, New York.
