Reşiţa

Industrial town in western Romania, 73 km/46 mi southeast of Timişoara; population (2001 est) 93,100. The town is situated at the foot of the southern Carpathian Mountains. Metalworking is long-established in the region, and Reşiţa's iron- and steelworks use local coal and ore. Other industries include mining and engineering.

The settlement was originally established by the Romans.
