Reber, Napoléon-Henri (1807–1880)

French composer. He studied at the Paris Conservatory with Lesueur and others. In 1851 he was appointed professor of harmony there and and in 1862 professor of composition in succession to Halévy.

operas La Nuit de Noël (1848), Le Père Gaillard (1852), Les Papillotes de M Benoît (1853), Les Dames capitaines (1857); second act of ballet Le Diable amoureux; cantata Roland (1887); four symphonies (1858), overtures to unpublished operas Le Ménétrier à la cour and Naïm; three string quartets, string quintet, piano quartet, seven piano trios; duets for violin and piano; piano pieces and duets.
