Red Rum

Racehorse whose exploits in the Grand National at Aintree won him national fame. The only horse to win the race three times, with victories in 1973, 1974, and 1977, he also finished second in 1975 and 1976. He died in 1995 at the age of 30, and is buried at Aintree near to the winning post.

Red Rum was the first horse to win back to back Grand Nationals in nearly 40 years, and the only horse ever to have won the race three times.
