Redgrave, Steve(n) Geoffrey (1962– )English rower and gold medallist at five successive Olympic Games 1984–2000. He also won nine gold medals at the World Championships 1986–99, was world indoor rowing champion in 1990, and was a member of the winning four-man bobsleigh team at the National Bobsleigh Championships in 1989. He announced his retirement from rowing in November 2000. In December 2000, he received the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Sports Personality of the Year award, and was elected vice-president of the British Olympic Association (BOA).
