Redmond

Suburban town in King County, west-central Washington; population (1990) 35,800. It is situated at the north end of Lake Sammamish, 16 km/10 mi northeast of Seattle. Originally a boat landing along a slough between Lakes Washington and Sammamish, it now houses the headquarters of the computer software giant Microsoft, and has various computer and electronic industries and light manufactures.
