Redwald (died c. 627)

King of the East Angles. He is chiefly remembered for having defeated and slain Ethelfrid, king of Northumbria, in 616, at a battle on the Idle River, and thereby restored to his throne Edwin (616–32), son of Ella of Deira. Beyond this little is known of him, other than Ethelbert of Kent persuaded him to be baptized.
