Reese, Gustave (1899–1977)

US musicologist. He was associate editor of The Music Quarterly, became editor on the death of Carl Engel in 1944, but resigned in 1945. His work includes the books Music in the Middle Ages and Music in the Renaissance.

He studied at New York University and became lecturer in music there in 1927 and professor in 1955.
