Reichenau, Berno of (died 1048)

German Benedictine monk and music theorist. He was first a monk at Prüm, and abbot of Reichenau from 1008. He compiled a tonarius, dealing with the organization of the church chants into ‘tones’ - eight modes of the Gregorian chant.
