Reichenbach, Hans

Reichenbach, Hans (1891-1953)

German-born US philosopher. Fleeing Nazi Germany, he went to Turkey in 1933 and to the USA in 1938, where he taught at the University of California, Los Angeles, from then on. His works include The Rise of Scientific Philosophy 1951.

He was born in Hamburg. He returned from service in World War I to study at the University of Berlin, at one point under Albert Einstein, and in 1926 became a physics professor there. He also made close contact with the Vienna Circle of logical positivists.
