Reine de Saba, La

Opera by Charles Gounod (libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré), produced at the Paris Opéra on 28 February 1862. The story concerns King Solomon, who wants to marry Balkis, Queen of Sheba, but she loves the King's architect Adoniram. They plan to elope but Adoniram is killed as they escape.
