Reizen, Mark (1895-1992)

Russian bass. He studied in Kharkov and made his debut there in 1921, as Pimen. He sang in Leningrad 1925-30 and at the Boshoi, Moscow 1930-54, returning there in 1985 to celebrate his 90th birthday, as Gremin in Eugene Onegin. Engagements outside Russia included Boito's Mefistofele at Monte Carlo in 1930. Other roles included Boris, Dosifey, Don Basilio, Ivan Susanin, and Philip II.
