Minoan religion

Religion of the Minoan civilization on the island of Crete. Its focus was the worship of the goddess in many different forms, though that of the snake goddess is most common. Minoan religion celebrated the fertility of the land, sea, and air and was linked to a cycle of agricultural and possibly even pre-agricultural festivals. Bulls featured in these rites and in the legend of the Minotaur, and represented the goddess's son, a symbol of her creative powers and strength.
