repair

In biology, the rectification of damage to a body. If a body is damaged, it needs to be repaired. Bodies are made of organs, which are themselves made of tissues. Each tissue is made of many similar cells. Damage will certainly kill some cells. In most tissues, some surrounding cells will be able to divide to produce new cells identical to the ones that were killed. This cell division repairs the damage. The same kind of cell division is used during growth.
