Remigius of Auxerre (c. 841–c. 908)

Benedictine monk and music theorist. His music theory takes the form of a commentary on Martianus Capella, especially as concerns notation. He was at the monastery of St Germain in Auxerre 861–883 or 893; afterwards he worked at Rheims. At the end of his life he also taught in Paris; Odo de Cluny was amongst his pupils.
