Renaud, Madeleine (1903–1994)

French actor. The wife of Jean-Louis Barrault from 1940, she played leading parts in most of his productions. She also assisted in the direction of the Compagnie Renaud–Barrault, founded in 1946.

She began her career at the Comédie Française and was already well known as an interpreter of the heroines of Pierre Marivaux when Barrault first came to act there.
