Renfrew

Town in Renfrew County, southeast Ontario, Canada; population (1991) 8,100. It is situated on the Bonnechere River, 77 km/48 mi west of Ottawa. Founded by Scots in the 1840s in a timbering district, it is a commercial and light industrial centre. Local industries include milling, mining, dairying, and high-tech manufactures.
