Reppel, Carmen (1941– )

German soprano. After study with Erna Berger, she made her debut at Flensburg in 1968, as Elisabeth de Valois. She has sung widely in Germany, notably at Bayreuth 1977–80, as Freia and Gutrune. She made her US debut at San Francisco in 1983 in Ariadne auf Naxos. In 1986 she sang at Munich in the first performance of Troades by Reimann and in 1987 in the first performance of Testi's Riccardo III, at La Scala, Milan. Other roles include Sieglinde (Bologna, 1988); Salome (Torre del Lago, 1989); Chrysothemis (Vienna, 1985); Strauss's Empress (Marseille, 1992); and Donna Anna.
