Reshevsky, Samuel (Herman) (1911-1992)

Polish-born US chess player who was seven times the US champion. His world title hopes were stalled by World War II, then by Soviet-dominated candidates' matches.

Born in Ozorkow, he emigrated to the USA at the age of eight. Eclipsed by Bobby Fischer in 1957, he worked as an investment analyst and insurance salesman.
