Retablo de Maese Pedro, El

Marionette opera by Manuel de Falla (libretto by composer based on a chapter from Cervantes' Don Quixote). Produced in Seville on 23 March 1923 in concert form, its first stage performance was in Paris on 25 June 1923. The story concerns the knight Gayferos, who, with the bumbling help of Don Quixote, rescues his wife Melisendra from the Moors.
